THE BENCH

The hand-hewn beam used for this piece was reclaimed from some custom wood beam trusses. My husband and I designed this as a coffee table for our daughter for a condo which had limited space. The finish was originally stained ebony. Recently, after she married and moved into a home, she and I repurposed it as a bench. We wanted to make it more of a signature piece at that point and put a hammered, matte finish over the ebony and allowed the ebony to show through in places. We then coated it with a non-toxic, high gloss clear finish.
